Ever caught yourself being your own worst critic?

How often do you check in with your inner voice? That little voice in your head, does it lift you up or tear you down?

Do you talk to yourself like your best friend or like your worst enemy? If you’re anything like I used to be, your inner dialogue might be more harsh critic than hype squad.

This was the case until I learned to flip the script and offer the same kindness to myself that I so generously give to those I love. We oftentimes spend so much time encouraging others, yet when it comes to ourselves, we can be our own worst enemy.

Are you ready to be your own best friend?

Shifting your self-talk isn’t just about feeling good, it changes everything. Your confidence, your opportunities, your ability to manifest the life you want.

Here’s the thing: your words create your reality. If you’re constantly telling yourself you’re not enough, how can you expect to feel empowered, confident, or worthy of success?

It’s time to flip the script. Start talking to yourself like you would your best friend.

Imagine if every time you caught that negative self-talk, you paused and interrupted that negative voice. What if you started cheering yourself on with empowering, supportive words every day? That small shift can boost your self-esteem and transform your whole outlook.

Today, make a commitment: notice how you speak to yourself and choose to be your own best friend.

Next time that inner critic pops up, try this method below.

Here’s the steps to reframe your thoughts:

1) Name that inner critic – remember this is not you!

2) Notice when that inner critic is talking to you.

3) Don’t resist them, try to shut them up or push them away. Allow them to be there. Give them 15 seconds to speak their message.

4) Stay grounded, don’t listen to what they’re saying, don’t take it to heart or get swept away in the emotions they are trying to get you to fall for.

5) Thank them for trying to keep me safe, because remember, they’re just trying to protect you! Tell them they’ve been working too hard.

6) Tell them you’re giving them an all-inclusive paid vacation to the Caribbean. After that in your mind, visualize them being transported to a place in the Caribbean and chilling on the beach with a mai tai.

7) Notice the stillness in your mind.

8) Repeat as necessary when they come back. Just keep lovingly shipping them back to the Caribbean.
